How Holdyn works

Your agreement.
A clear path
to payment.

Agree on the terms. Secure the funds. Release the payment when the conditions are met. Here’s how a protected transaction comes together.

The money’s journey

Fund

The sender commits the payment.

While the work happens

Held until the
conditions are met.

Funds are held by Stripe, separate from Holdyn.

Release

To the beneficiary’s Holdyn Wallet.

For deposits, the money follows the agreed return terms.

The transaction, step by step

From the first terms to the final release.

Start with what you’re paying for, when it’s due, and what needs to happen before the money is released.

A quick note on timing

After counterparty approval, every transaction is reviewed before activation, usually within 1–5 business days. Activation, funding, and release pause until the review is cleared.

See the fees before you begin
  1. Agree

    Put the details in writing.

Set the amount, delivery dates, milestones, and conditions for release. Invite the other party to review and sign, so the agreement is clear before the work begins.

Both parties review and sign the terms.

  2. Fund

    Secure the money before delivery.

The sender funds the transaction from their Holdyn Wallet, topped up by card, bank transfer, or supported cryptocurrency. Funds move into Secure Hold on the beneficiary’s Stripe Connected Account.

Stripe holds the funds. Holdyn does not custody them.

  3. Deliver

Do the work. Keep the record.

The beneficiary provides the agreed goods or service. Keep messages, files, and delivery notes with the transaction, and follow each milestone as the work progresses.

The agreement and its supporting documents stay together.

  4. Confirm

    Review what was delivered.

The sender checks delivery against the terms and approves it or raises a dispute within the agreed approval window. For automatic release, if the sender does not respond within that window, funds release on the configured release date. Manual release requires the sender’s approval.

Approval windows are configurable from 1 to 30 days.

  5. Release

The money reaches its next stop.

When the release conditions are met, payment goes to the beneficiary’s Holdyn Wallet. From there, they can transfer it or withdraw to a supported bank account. Deposits return to the depositor according to the agreed return terms.

Bank withdrawals are a separate step after release.

One payment

For a freelance job, digital delivery, or a purchase. Connect one payment to the agreed delivery conditions.

Milestones & ongoing work

For projects, supplier orders, and retainers. Set stages or recurring payments around the work you agree to.

Deposits & rentals

Set the amount, return date, and return conditions upfront. The deposit follows those terms, including any dispute outcome.

Direct wallet-to-wallet transfers are different: they move money without contract terms or conditional release.

Who does what

The agreement.
And the money.

Two distinct roles. Holdyn provides the tools to manage your transaction. Stripe holds and processes the funds.

Holdyn

Where you manage the deal.

  • Terms, signatures, milestones, and approvals
  • Messaging, files, delivery notes, and reminders
  • Dispute tools, evidence, and resolution support

Holdyn is a payment facilitation platform. It does not hold or custody user funds.

Stripe

Where the funds are held.

  • Payment processing and fund custody
  • Payment security and financial compliance
  • Fund releases and payouts through Stripe

Security & data

If plans change

A disagreement needs a way forward.

Filing a dispute freezes held funds.

Held funds stay frozen pending resolution. The agreement, messages, and evidence help establish what happens next.

Resolve it together

Propose a settlement, respond to the other party, and document the outcome. Holdyn keeps the conversation and evidence in one place.

Bring in Holdyn

Request Holdyn-facilitated mediation. The review considers your agreement, the evidence submitted, and the transaction’s message history.

Use external resolution

Where legal proceedings, arbitration, or an external mediator are needed, Holdyn facilitates the process and fund distribution through Stripe according to the outcome.

Outcomes can include release, return, or a split of funds. Deposit outcomes can include return or forfeiture, and applicable earned fees still apply.

Bring the other party

Start with an invitation.
Not another signup.

Your counterparty can begin as a guest, with access limited to their transaction. Verification is built into the steps that need it.

Guest senders fund through a separate Stripe payment flow. Registered senders use their Holdyn Wallet.

  1. An invitation by email

A secure link opens the specific transaction. A one-time email code is required each time the link is opened.

  2. Review and approve

Guests save a payment method with Stripe before approving, whether they are the sender or beneficiary. Sensitive actions require a fresh email code.

  3. Register to claim funds

After transaction completion, guest beneficiaries have 30 days to register and complete Stripe Identity verification. Claimed funds enter their Holdyn Wallet; unclaimed funds return to the sender.

A full account is required before further write actions if a transaction enters dispute, mediation, or compliance review. Bank withdrawal availability depends on the destination country.
